Salah Extends Regret to Liverpool Dressing Room, Says Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has revealed that Mohamed Salah apologised to the entire Liverpool squad in the wake of the fallout from his recent interview.
The Fallout
Salah was left out from a key Champions League match subsequent to criticising the club and claiming his connection to the head coach had soured.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I'm sorry.’”
The head coach has chosen not to reveal on whether he received a personal apology from the veteran striker.
Team Unity
Jones insisted that the team's response was unchanged. “Nothing about him changed, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,” he continued.
Jones also noted that a competitor wanting to play is preferable. “I understand there are different methods you can go about things,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just sit out, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
On-Field Response
The team's performance have been impressive in the matches since the initial controversy. He feels the Salah's words were not intended to harm the team.
“If passion has boiled over, the source has been from a place of caring,” he finished. “That chapter is closed and we’re building chemistry, playing well and starting to win games.”
